We started like a lot of homestead families, gardening and canning our excess foods, but wanted a more stable long term shelf life (just in case we had a bad gardening year). We researched freeze drying and jumped right into buying our first machine to freeze dry our garden vegetables, leftover meals and milk from our goats. As Christians we have always wanted to be able to bless those less fortunate with food and meals as an outreach of God’s love and blessings. We began contemplating the investment and workload to sell freeze dried candy, milk and other foods at the level of state cottage laws, but decided it was just too limiting We had even come up with a business name “Freedom Freeze Dried Foods”, but we sat on the idea while we waited to see how God would provide. We discovered Polar Puffs freeze dried creations (an already existing freeze drying business) was for sale in our local city of Nacogdoches, TX. After much prayer and discussion our financial abilities were made available, so we decided to go all in. It’s been a very difficult path both financially and laboriously, but we are now excited about all the business has achieved and its ability to reach people that we would otherwise not have been able to accomplish. We set aside a portion of all the meals that we manufacture strictly for the purpose of feeding those in need. Our goal as the business grows is to be able to be a blessing to those that just need a little help with a meal or two or an entire region that has suffered meteorological catastrophes (hurricanes, tornadoes, flood, fires, etc).
